Well, that was the best I could do to tie together Apichatpong Weerasethakul's masterful
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives and Gore Verbinski's almost-masterful
Rango, both of which I've reviewed at
Battleship Pretension, and both of which are more or less in theaters this weekend. I say "more or less" because
Uncle Boonmee, being what it is an all, is getting the ol' slow-release pattern across the country (unfortunately there's no page laying out its playdates in other cities, but keep a watch out for it, it's worth it!).
Rango, naturally, is out everywhere.

It's funny that I came here through your review of Everyone Else where you stated: 'for a film that attempts to tackle events in a realistic manner (which could be said to comprise at least 90% of modern cinema)' and here your most recent post deals with surrealism. In modern cinema, no less. I haven't seen Rango, but I enjoyed Uncle Boonmee to some degree. Best of all, as far as recent cinema goes, is The Temptation of St. Tony. Everything is better in threes, after all.
